What can you see?
“Love Our Earth” is a conversation between the Earth and the Sun written from the perspective of the Sun.
The story moves into different locations: mountains, rivers, oceans, the North Pole, deserts, and rainforests, beginning with the sentence I see. Going into an adventure with the Sun, young readers will learn about our planet’s beauty, which is emphasised by the variety of the animal kingdom, introducing typical and less familiar animals such as moose, meerkats, jaguars and sloth. The book links knowledge of nature with maths, and young children can count to 10 and spot the animals.
The illustrations are cheerful and appealing to preschoolers, with some emphasis on the seasons. ‘Love Our Earth’ offers ideas on recycling and environmentalism with practical activities manageable by young children, giving them the self-confidence to contribute and make a positive change.
A lovely introduction to nature’s beauty!
